Teaching Inclusion Through Play

Teaching Inclusion Through Play

Inclusion is a crucial aspect of our society, and it is essential to teach children about it from a young age.

“Inclusion” refers to the practice of ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, identity, or abilities, is provided with equal access to opportunities, resources, and services.

For such a complex concept, one way to teach kids about this is by using medically inclusive dolls and toys. These toys can help children learn about different types of people and disabilities, building the foundations for a more accepting and inclusive society.

Medically inclusive dolls and toys are designed to represent people with various disabilities, medical conditions or illnesses. Through play, children can learn about the challenges that individuals with disabilities face and how they can support them.

For example, dolls with hearing aids can help children understand the importance of communication and the difficulties that people with hearing impairments might face.

Similarly, dolls with wheelchairs can help children understand the challenges that wheelchair users face, such as accessibility and mobility.

These toys can facilitate conversations about how everyone has unique needs and abilities, and that it is important to be accepting and accommodating of these differences.

With inclusive toys, children will naturally develop empathy, kindness, and understanding. They will ultimately learn how to be more inclusive and accepting of others who may be different from them.

In order to encourage inclusive education in early childhood, we have made it our mission to make medically inclusive toys to bring representation to children with medical needs. Our doll-sized medical devices are being purchased for use in schools, hospitals, daycares, and so much more.

By promoting inclusion, these centers are creating an environment where children feel comfortable being themselves, and learn to respect and appreciate all of the wonderful differences in our society.
